So here’s my final article from LFW!
Holding his show in the opulent Carlton House Terrace, Ong Oaj Pairam certainly set the tone for a luxurious and exclusive collection.
With the catwalk being a pathway between two interconnecting rooms adorned with glittering chandeliers, the entire audience awaited something elegant and spectacular to float down the runway.
The materials chosen for each look were delicate, with Pairam favoring airy netting, draped silks and metallic embroidered fabric and he accentuated certain designs with ornate prints, carefully placed fringing and detailed appliqué. By layering textiles, he created a sense of movement and depth for his clothing and he also added harder style lines with high collars and leatherwork. The colour palette was ethereal with forest greens, gold, lilac and blues being used, giving the collection a natural, unaffected vibe.
Pairam successfully cultivated a beautifully romantic aesthetic with touches of edgier modernism that ensured many women will covet each and every one of his pieces. The styling was restrained, with models in light make-up and soft plaited hair, allowing the audience to focus on the intricacies of his looks.
Keeping his audience in mind until the very end, Pairam transformed his runway show into a presentation when it finished. Unbeknownst to the audience, the models were instructed to remain standing in two groups in the two rooms, allowing us to inspect each item up close. Needless to say, it was a lovely surprise and a great opportunity to take more photos of Pairam’s beautiful work.
p.s. I honestly had so much fun and I hope I get to do it again
